Artist's Description

The original falls in the Ottauquechee River here were the impetus for founding the village of Quechee. The falls were improved with the addition of a mill dam which diverted water to a grist and sawmill beginning in the 1770's. The mills were eventually closed and what remained of the buildings was repurposed for a power generating facility and a glass blowing factory. Quechee is located in Central Vermont, close to Woodstock.
