Description
The Town of Kaub, Castle Pfalzgrafenstein (foreground), and Castle Gutenfelds (above town). Castle Pfalzgrafenstein (The Pflaz) was constructed in 1326 on an island in the middle of the Rhine River for the purpose of collecting tolls for river passage. Castle Gutenfelds, built in 1220 was part of the fortifications to enforce collection of tolls. Kaub dates to before the 10th Century. Digital Art using watercolor on sandstone, based on the original photograph.
