Description
Built originally in 1842 and renovated in 1927 and again in 2005, the Hammond covered bridge floated off of it's footings in the great flood of 1927 and travelled over a mile downstream. It was floated back to this location on empty barrels. Spanning Otter Creek with a total length of 139 feet it is one of the longest covered bridges in Vermont. It is located several miles northwest of the town of Pittsford in central Vermont.
