Description
First built in 1808, rebuilt in 1831 and again in 1856, the lighthouse is the easternmost lighthouse in the US and only one of two with red and white stripes. The lighthouse marks the entrance to the Quoddy Narrows, Passamaquoddy Bay, and the St Croix River. Today it is part of the Quoddy Head State Park in Maine and is open to public access. As seen from the rocky beach below at low tide, during a rare day of sunshine!
